She single-handedly developed a line of exclusive products for the store, designing each by hand and overseeing the development from sketch to finished product.

Years later, Jennifer pursued teaching and received her Master's degree in Educational Studies. She has taught art at all levels in the public schools since 2002. Jennifer has taught classes in drawing, painting, ceramics, computer-based art and mixed media. Being a jack of all trades and having an ability to work with different personalities does have its advantages.

A passion to create has kept Jennifer busy with commissions for different clients, each having unique tastes and lifestyles.  After much prompting and encouragement from her clients, Jennifer realized that there is a very strong need for custom artwork. Not many artists can create pieces in multiple mediums and cater to people wanting artwork for their homes and offices that directly reflects who they are!

...and this is how JSLZarts was born.

The One Behind It All...

Jennifer Zimmermann always envisioned herself being an artist from the time she was a young age.

The obvious choice was to attend art school. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. After graduating she moved to California to pursue post-bachelor studies at the Art Institute of Southern California in Laguna Beach and then later attended the world-renowned Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, with a focus on illustration.
Jennifer worked as a freelance illustrator, graphic designer and also designed original art for a stationery company. Later, she worked as a toy designer and became a design liaison between a major department store and a popular children's licensed character company.
